Hi there friends! Joyce stopped by my blog on Monday and told me about her Hodgepodge linkups on Wednesdays! I've joined this before, and when I saw you were linking up about resolutions I thought I would LOVE to jump in, meet some new folks and join with the Hodgepodge, so visit with Joyce at From This Side of the Pond and join the fun!
1. Did you make resolutions or set goals for the year we're waving goodbye? How did that work out for you? Will you set any goals for this new year, new season, or new month? Share one or two if you'd like to share.
I think the words that best describes last year for me would be "Survival Mode" I'm learning some new things and studying some exciting things about myself and my thought life and I've realized that I spent a good deal of last year just kind of flying through on high gear. We had a LOT of big life events last year, but I feel like we were just running hard from one thing to the next. Sometimes when we are busy we think that means we are being productive- but I've learned that's clearly not true.
I've learned that none of the goals that I have set year after year are unattainable without mental clarity. I have discovered that my nervous system has been disregulated for a long time, and I've been making active steps toward healing. I know- this all sounds New age, but it isn't! It's Gods way of reneweing our minds, which renews our body. I look forward to sharing all of this on my blog this year!
All in all, I named this blog Seeking Simple, (which is a new blog to me! I hope some of you will follow and share your blogs with me for me to follow!) and that is my resolution for this year. To intentionally seek simplicity. :) I'll make a resolutions post soon!
2. When did you have the most fun this year?
Without a doubt, we had the most fun in October! We went to our first NFL game in Charlotte to see the Panthers play the Dolphins. That was amazing! I never thought I would enjoy it so much! We were pulling for the Dolphins despite my husbands dedication to the Panthers since our oldest son is a die hard Miami fan, and they lost, but if they had to lost someone at least it was our home team!

We also really enjoyed the NC State fair! Our daughter started doing Equestrian shows in May, and she was showing in the State fair so we visited for our first time. The fair was a lot of fun, and she did win a blue ribbon! We really enjoyed her show season, we never thought we would be so into it, but we have loved it a lot and look forward to this years show season as well!
We also visited the beach a few times, namely for a few days for our Son's 16th birthday. We hope to do more vacating this year. And, we became Grandparents in July :) So all in all, we have had a big year!

3. What's a song or song lyric you'll associate with 2025? Tell us why.
This is so silly! My son started listening to The Song Baby I Love your Way by a group called Big Mountain Unity in the mornings when he unloaded the dishwasher! This was an older song by Peter Frampton that has been redone. I think I'll always remember him when I hear this song, and think of him dancing in the kitchen lol!

also, Come Jesus Come... we had a great revival this year and we sang that song- I LOVE that song and it makes the Holy Spirit in me so happy!
4. Best (or a favorite) bite of something delicious you tasted this year?
I can't recall any new foods this year. I'm a big seafood fan, so we have enjoyed visiting Millers Waterfront in Nags head quite a lot. I'm a big crabcake person, and I love the crabcakes at the coast, but we have a local restaurant here in Greenville (which isn't too far from the coast) that has the best crabcakes and crab dip...

5. What do you want to do more of in the new year? Less of?
More of-
Reading, time with my kids, more time at the beach, more time spent resting and cooking! I want to learn to cook seafood this year! Blogging! Lets add that to the list!
Less of- Scrolling, stressing, overthinking and being rushed.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I'm so excited to be back in the blogger world, and I'm so happy to meet you here today! I hope to make some new friends with this linkup, and thank you so much for visiting my blog today!

I like you list of what you want to do more of, not sure about the cooking part. Physical, emotional and spiritual health are all important. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSending you ((Hugs)) for your comment for question #1. I feel like I know what you are going through. Love the photos and it looks like a wonderful time you had in question #2. Yum on the favorite tastes. Your answer for #5 sounds perfect. I pray you can do all of it. Thank you for stopping over at my blog. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! My daughter was an equestrian in high school and college, and I loved going to watch her ride in horse show. Great songs, just the mention of them has me humming, and I love your more of and less of. Thanks for stopping by my blog and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me on the hodgepodge. I am right there with you on the answer to "less."
ReplyDeleteAn NFL game! Wow, that sounds exciting!
Since our move we got rid of a lot of stuff. I'm working to be intentional on what we have and continue to get rid of stuff. Trying to simplify. It's a lot of work but been worth it so far.
Beautiful blog
